The Korean judo team failed to win a medal in the mixed team event at the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games. The Koreans lost 0-4 to Japan in the mixed team competition quarterfinals and then fell 1-4 to Mongolia in the bronze medal match on Sunday at the Linfu Gymnasium in Xiaoshan, Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China. The Korean judoka finished the tournament with one gold, two silver and six bronze medals .The number of gold medals is the lowest ever. The previous low was two at the 1990 Beijing Games. The team lost half of its first bouts in the men’s heaviest weight class, with Han Ju-yup (Korea Horse Society) at 90 kg, followed by Heo Mi-mi (Gyeongbuk Sports Federation) at 57 kg and Lee Eun-yeol (Yongin University) at 73 kg .Korea responded by defeating Bachouri Niamh-Erdene in the women’s 70-kilogram category with an andari furigiri bout, but Lee Sung-ho (Korea Horse Society) ended his campaign in the men’s 90-kilogram category with a thigh-hold half-loss to Altanbagana Gantula.
