The South Korean national soccer team, led by Jürgen Klinsmann, has assembled the largest coaching and support staff in its 64-year history as it looks to win its first Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Asian Cup title.
An official from the Korea Football Association (KFA) said on Wednesday (June 13), “Two analytical staff members have joined the Korean national team ahead of the tournament. This is the largest number of analysts for any national team in history.” The two new analysts will be part of the Korean team for this tournament only.
Fotheringham Mark is a Scottish analyst who holds a 텍사스홀덤 UEFA Leader P-license. He will serve as an analyst for the tournament, primarily analyzing the strength of the teams Korea will face.
Another new face is Roxton Christopher, a data analytics specialist from the United Kingdom. He previously served as FIFA’s data analyst for the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar. He joins the team for the first game against Bahrain on July 15.
With the addition of the two analytics staff members, South Korea will be able to further analyze and understand its opponents in the tournament.
A KFA official said, “Coach Klinsmann requested two additional analysts before the tournament. We were able to bring in two analysts that we had known since then,” said a KFA official.
It’s not just the analytics department that has seen an increase in staff.
The KFA has also added two physiotherapists (physio-therapists) to its medical team ahead of the tournament. The two physiotherapists, recommended by Hwang In-beom (Zvezda) and Cho Kyu-sung (Meatwillan), will join the national team for the duration of the tournament and work alongside the existing four physiotherapists.
Klinsmann’s squad has been described as “all-time great,” with the likes of Son Heung-min (Tottenham), Kim Min-jae (Bayern Munich), Lee Kang-in (Paris Saint-Germain), and Hwang Hee-chan (Wolverhampton) among the most recognized players in Europe.
In addition, the team has assembled a large staff of 35 people, raising expectations of winning the tournament.
