The 2023 KWBL Wheelchair Basketball League kicked off its five-month campaign with an opening ceremony on the 14th.
The opening ceremony, held at the Chuncheon Hoban Gymnasium, was attended by Choi Wook-cheol, President of the Korea Wheelchair Basketball Federation, Chuncheon Mayor Yook Dong-han, Lee Ki-tae, Head of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Jeong Jin-wan, President of the Korea Para Sports Association, Heo Young, Member of Parliament, Kim Yong-joo, Secretary General of the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Sports Association, and Kyung Min-hyun, Vice President of the Gangwon Min Ilbo.
Through his opening remarks, Choi Wook-chul said, “The Wheelchair Basketball League instills dreams and hopes in people with disabilities, encourages challenges and courage, and helps to improve awareness of the disabled.
We hope to develop the league into an internationally recognized league and contribute significantly to raising the status of the country.”
“We will do our best to ensure that the Wheelchair Basketball League will be loved by all Koreans,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Chuncheon Tigers have rattled off three straight wins since the start of the season to sit atop the league standings.
With six points, the Tigers have moved into sole possession of first place, one point behind second-place Goyang Holt and Coway Blue Wheels (5-2-1). 안전놀이터
