Samsung Lions Kim Sung-yoon.
The Korean Baseball Organization (KBO)
Has confirmed its replacements for the baseball team competing at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games, saying that “the selection of
the national team was made without considering the military service.”
The Korea Baseball Softball Association (KBSA)
Performance Enhancement Committee and the KBO Power Enhancement Committee announced on Nov. 21 that Kim Sung-yoon
(Samsung) and Kim Young-gyu (NC) will replace Lee Jung-hoo (Kiwoom) and Koo Chang-mo (NC), 한국야동 who were
selected for the Asian Games baseball team.
“Since the announcement of the roster, we have been checking the performance of the players who have been injured, rehabilitated
and recovering, and decided that it was necessary to replace the two players,” the committee explained.
Lee Jung-hoo
Who was considered a key hitter for the team, was already expected to be replaced. He suffered a left ankle injury in July and is out for the season.
As for left-hander Koo Chang-mo, there was a lot of speculation about whether he would be replaced. He was sidelined for three
months in June after suffering a stress fracture of the ulna in his left arm.
After a lengthy rehabilitation, he recently took the next step in his comeback. He pitched out of the bullpen on the last five days,
live pitched on the 13th, 성인웹툰 pitched in a second team game on the 19th, and returned to the first team the day before on the 20th.
Koo Chang-mo
Expressed his desire to participate in the Asian Games as a bullpen pitcher, but was ultimately rejected. It was decided that he was not in perfect physical condition.
Outfielder Kim Sung-yoon, who was selected as an alternate, batted .314 with two home runs, 27 RBIs and 18 stolen bases in 96
games this season. Despite his diminutive size (5-foot-11), he is an Altoran-like performer on the ball, in the field, and around the bases.
Young-gyu Kim
Is a left-handed bullpen arm for NC. He has appeared in 59 games and 56⅔ innings so far this season, posting a 2-4 record with 21
saves and a 3.34 ERA.
The team finalized the selection of Kim Young-kyu over Koo Chang-mo due to a lack of left-handed pitching options.
After finalizing the roster, the KBO said, “The roster for the Asian Games was selected without considering military service at all,”
adding, “With the exception of wild cards, the roster is based on age and seniority limits (25 years old and in their fourth year or
less) and the principle of selecting a maximum of three players per team.”
This is in response to criticisms that certain teams have a large number of players who have not completed military service.
LG, NC, Samsung, and KIA each had three players, Lotte, Hanwha, Kiwoom, KT, and SSG each had two, Doosan had one, and one amateur (Jang Hyun-seok) was selected.
NC Dinos Kim Young-gyu.
Of the three, NC is the only team to have all three players who have not completed military service.
With the selection of Kim Sung-yoon and Kim Young-gyu, who are under the age of 25, instead of Koo Chang-mo, who was
selected as a wild card, the national team’s wild cards are Park Se-woong and Choi Won-jun.
South Korea, led by head coach Ryu Jung-il, will be looking for a fourth straight Asian Games title at the tournament. The team
will convene on Nov. 23 and train in Korea before departing on Nov. 28. 19가이드03
